Moià is a town situated in the eastern part of the region of Bages and in the centre of the geographic region of Moianès. It is the most important town in the high plateau of Moianès, which forms a geographic region made up of ten municipalities that officially belong to the administrative regions of Bages (Calders, L'Estany, Moià, Monistrol de Calders and Santa Maria d'Oló), Vallès Oriental (Castellcir, Castellterçol, Granera and Sant Quirze Safaja) and Osona (Collsuspina). |

A place worth visiting: the Toll Caves (Coves del Toll). The TOLL CAVE, set in the geographic region of Moianès, in the municipality of Moià, is one of the European prehistoric caves with a remarkable variety of Quaternary fauna from the WÜRM glaciation period which includes the hippopotamus, the rhinoceros, the cave bear, the lion, the hyena, the aurochs, the chamois, etc. Remains of fires and a few Mousterian flint tools prove the human presence of the Neanderthal man during the Middle Paleolithic (between 100,000 and 40,000 ago) in the geographic area of Moianès.Picture of the Toll Caves. |
